MORNING TRAINING ADVICE
PREPARATION – This is the only way you will make the process easy, prepare the night before.
BAGS:
- Towel
- Water bottle
- Kit bag
- Uniform
- Breakfast
- School bag (if going straight to school)
WORKING AS A TEAM:
Don’t knock morning training straight away as a time issue things to think about:
- Do a route practice run from the baths to school to work at around the same time you will have to do it after training, this way you will know how much time you have and if it is do able.
- Lets get talking to each other, see if anyone knows better routes.
- Set up a rota between ourselves: people living near each other someone could do one session somebody else do the other or if work timings don’t fit see if you could do a drop off and the other person do the pick-up.
- See if anyone drives past your child’s school en-route to work/ home.
- Kids going straight to school can we organise kit bag co-ordinator to take kit bags home with them and bring them all to the next training session saving the swimmers lugging them around?
FOR TRAINING:
- Bring uniform on hangers; hang up in changing room quick to get changed.
- Come training in school shoes so these aren’t forgotten and minimise baggage
- Sleep longer just chuck your bather on and onesie on to arrive, if you have prepped the night before it’s an extra 10 mins in bed.
- Breakfast on the go: Toast/ crumpet/ bagel wrapped in double foil to keep warm, butter will be all melted by the time you eat it, chopped fruit muesli and yoghurt, cereal pot, milk and banana, don’t forget an extra snack for school as you will more than likely be starving by mid-morning.
POSITIVES FOR MORNING TRAINING:
- Apart from the obvious more water time!!
- Those doing exams or heavy school work load, it means if you have to miss an evening session you can still make up your water time.
- You are a lot more alert at school
- Better time management in both everyday life and school work
- More communication between us parents, building a better team environment.
- Improvement in swimming times.
